If you are an older single mom (or two single moms!) who have a good grasp of the daily needs and high level of attention an individual such a Cody needs and can lovingly provide such care, please make an inquiry today! Cody is generally a very happy, lovable, and affectionate boy with developmental and social delays.
Much younger than his chronological age, his interests include looking through picture books, watching movies and cartoons, playing board games, drawing, doing crafts, riding his bike, fishing, swimming, and bowling. His favorite playthings are toy race cars and dump trucks. He thinks that the Disney movie “Cars” is wonderful. Since first seeing the film, Cody has become very adept at identifying vehicles, and has come to love the idea of traveling and going on family trips. One of his hobbies is looking at various types of maps and planning trips. Cody loves any activity or opportunity to be around caring, attentive adults. He also likes to help out however he can. Legally free, Cody came into care in 2006.
Cody will do best as the only child in the home. While he is able to interact well with children of all ages, he wants and needs a very high level of attention. Of course, Cody’s adoptive mom needs to be a strong advocate for his educational, developmental, and counseling throughout adolescence. It may be that Cody will be able to be semi-independent as an adult, yet he will still need to have his family as his primary advocate and resource throughout his lifetime. Cody, who receives SSI, will likely receive additional adoption support due to his developmental delays and other behavioral needs.
Cody asked to be able to participate in the writing of his profile and here are some thoughts he wants to share.

Due to his challenges, teachers and parents need to make sure that rules and limits are very concrete and consistent.
As part of Cody’s regular support system, he routinely meets with a counselor to work on expressing his feelings in words, developing self-calming tools and strategies, and building his self-esteem.
