Nathan, 14, likes to fish and play video games. He likes to play sports such as basketball. He has an endearing, outgoing personality and an infectious laugh. This, combined with his sweet smile and sense of humor, makes him fun to be around. Nathan is often very respectful, helpful and kind to others. He is open and affectionate with people he trusts.
Nathan is presently in the 8th grade and receives special services to assist him with school work and classroom behavior. Nathan enjoys school and is proud of the gains he has made in his academics and in his relationships with others. Nathan is able to get along with other children, but sometimes in the heat of competition struggles to show good sportsmanship and to manage his frustrations.
Nathan has had a very chaotic childhood. Adults did not always meet his needs nor did they provide him with a safe home environment. Nathan is slow to trust adults and needs to be given time to feel comfortable with new faces and new places. Therapeutic services are being provided to help Nathan manage his mental health symptoms and to cope with the losses and trauma he has experienced.
Nathan very much wants a forever family to call his own and is hopeful about finding one. He even made this point clear when he was recently interviewed by a local radio station about his feelings on adoption. Nathan would do best in a family that leads an active lifestyle and has older children or children who are stable and have few special needs. He requires attention, support and guidance and would benefit from parents who can provide structure and consistency.
IMPORTANT: Nathan and his two older brothers are bonded and continued contact is a must.
