Bridge to the Future
The Bridge to the Future project aims to improve outcomes for Oklahoma’s children by developing and delivering innovative, comprehensive strategies for the diligent recruitment and retention of resource families within the State. These families reflect the needs, numbers and characteristics of children in care.
Bridge to the Future focuses on five core initiatives during this grant:
- Developing survey instruments and data mining tools based on the Kirkpatrick model of evaluation to provide qualitative and quantitative data about the project’s efforts and effectiveness of training
- Implementing systematic process improvements around the application and approval process using Lean/Six Sigma methodology
- Implementing customer service interventions with staff through online training and the development of a Resource Family Support Call Center and web portal
- Developing multi-format training to increase the skills and capability of both resource families and staff in five high-need areas: trauma-informed care, intentional visitation, psychotropic medications, legal and handbook/contract
- Building of community partnerships in conjunction with the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, Tribes and national entities such as AdoptUsKids and One Church, One Child
