My name is Edwin and I am 12 years old. I am in the 7th grade. It makes me feel very happy that I am part of a family. My mom has changed my life, I now feel confident and happy. I know that someone loves me in this world and I can rely on someone, I am very grateful. I am proud that I was adopted, my friends and community know and I am not ashamed. Adoption doesn’t change who I am as a person. Adoption provides a better future for a child. Children should not be afraid and should give adoption a chance. They will be freed and will not be alone; when a child is adopted he will be part of a family. When families decide to adopt a child, they should really make them feel welcomed and home. It takes time to build a relationship and a loving home but families should keep trying and be patient with the child. The child may not like you at first, but they will eventually get used to you when you show that you care for them. Families need to keep working to make the relationship stronger.
My mom Aida is fun, when I am feeling down she cheers me up and makes me feel good inside. She cooks really good food and enjoys seeing me eat. I have a strong relationship with my family, I feel thankful that I could rely on them. I know they will not leave me out in the wind, they love and care for me. My mom will never leave me, I trust her. I feel very secure because I know this is where I am going to stay and will be with my mom forever. It is great to really be part of a family, it is very important to me. My mom is also a foster mom to a 14 year old boy and I am fine with it, because I know she wants to help another person.
I enjoy going to summer camp, we go on trips and play fun games. My favorite sport is baseball and my favorite subject is History. I enjoy playing video games; it is great to be able to give my old game systems to my nieces and nephews. I am trying to teach them to call me “tio”, which means uncle in Spanish.
