Learn About the Benefits of Disclosing Child Background Information Prior to Adoption
Two new resources from Child Welfare Information Gateway, one for adoptive families and one for child welfare professionals, discuss the importance of disclosing background information about children prior to adoption. When information about developmental, trauma, placement, educational, and social histories is disclosed to prospective parents at the beginning of the adoption process, they are more likely to have more realistic expectations of what it will be like to parent their child.

Congress Makes Adoption Tax Credit Permanent
The Adoption Tax Credit that was set to expire at the end of 2012 is now a permanent credit. The tax credit allows adoptive parents of children in foster care to deduct adoption expenses from their federal taxes. The credit applies to necessary expenses directly related to the legal adoption of an eligible child.

Alyssa Bambard Named AdoptUSKids' December Caseworker of the Month
Alyssa Bambard, adoption director at Adoption Options Worldwide in Bloomfield, Mich., is our December Caseworker of the Month. Randie Randolph of San Bernadino, Calif., nominated Bambard for the award because of her dedication to recruiting families, communicating with them regularly, and for doing the work of digging deeper when reviewing home studies.

New Music Video to Celebrate National Adoption Day
In honor of National Adoption Day on Saturday, November 17, singer-song writer Karyn Williams and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute have partnered to produce the music video "You Just May Be." The song reminds individuals, families, and organizations all over the world that anybody can make the difference in the life of a child without a family.
