June 2009 Caseworker of the Month

Robin Gibson

Robin Gibson

We were foster parents for quite some time in Hawaii before moving to Japan. We are now pursuing the possibility of adoption from the US Foster Care system while living overseas. Before contracting with our current agency, Adopt-Abroad, Inc. we contacted a number of states directly to find out if there was a possibility of working with us. We contacted Linda Foster (listed on Oklahoma's website) who, in turn, put us in touch with Robin Gibson. What impresses me most about Robin is her immediate feedback. I have asked her a number of questions and she has always responded quickly and professionally with pertinent information. I know that most case workers are extremely taxed with their caseload, but it is a breath of fresh air to know that if I have any questions or concerns I can depend on Robin to get back to us right away. As my husband would say, "Bravo Zulu" to Robin!

Foster parents

I’m a teacher and single dad living overseas. I adopted my teen-aged son, Chris, last year out of Oklahoma. Oklahoma is one of the few states that help the dreams of military families overseas come true. People like Robin Gibson are very special, because it requires so much extra knowledge and coordination to arrange a placement for a child overseas. I can only imagine the huge learning curve for the case worker and the organization for that first overseas placement. Many military families overseas owe a great debt to Robin and others like her. Often times a change of scene and a second chance is all a child needs to thrive. My son is now on honor roll, sings in the school’s Honor Choir, is the fastest kid on the track team, is the only boy on the Cheerleading squad, and is very happy to be here. He just met his grandmother for the first time last night, and all becomes right with his world as he slowly heals old wounds and matures into a fine young man with a bright future. Please acknowledge the outstanding service of Robin Gibson, by naming her Case Worker of the month.

Adoptive parent

“I work for the adoption program. My job title is Child Welfare Specialist III / Adoption Specialist. I've worked for the state for 10 1/2 years, have been with the adoption program for 9 years, and I've been an adoption specialist for 5 years. I am humbled and honored to be nominated for this award. Military families offer our children many unique and amazing opportunities and it is a privilege to work with families who are serving our nation both in the military and as adoptive parents.” - Robin Gibson
