NRCRRFAP Training & Technical Assistance
Welcome to the National Resource Center for Recruitment and Retention of Foster and Adoptive Parents at AdoptUsKids (NRCRRFAP) web pages. As part of the Children's Bureau Network of training & technical assistance (T/TA), we are here to assist States & Tribes in their foster and adoptive family recruitment and retention work. Additionally, AdoptUsKids has been designated by the Children's Bureau as the lead agency to deliver services to states around interjurisdictional placement issues.
T/TA Service Goals
- Support States & Tribes in their efforts to develop a pool of waiting families that reflects the diverse characteristics of children & youth for whom foster & adoptive homes are needed
- Increase the effective use of cross-jurisdictional resources to facilitate timely permanence options for waiting children & youth
- Promote & enhance the role of foster and adoptive parents in recruitment, retention, and planning
- Assist States & Tribes to enhance worker capacity, satisfaction with, and validation of their critical work in recruitment & retention
- Assist States & Tribes in ensuring their recruitment, response processes, and retention are driven by promising practices & achieve desired outcomes for families, children & youth

Report to Congress
The report titled Barriers and Success Factors in Adoption from Foster Care: Perspectives of Families and Staff cleared its final approval at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is in the hands of Congress!
The AdoptUsKids Research Team at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work Center for Social Work Research conducted this important study. Read the full report including the letters to Congress.
