Jamia is a sweet and fun girl whose friends describe her as "nice, curious, and joyful." For fun, Jamia enjoys listening to music, shopping, and spending time with her friends. Her favorite stores are Rue 21 and Forever 21. Jamia's teachers say she has a genuine love for learning, and is a joy to have in the classroom. Her favorite subject is English. During the summer, Jamia participates in tennis. She also likes to play basketball, and hopes to participate on a team someday.
The family that would be best for Jamia would have a background in parenting trauma-affected children. While Jamia is open to a family of any race, she would prefer a family that is African American. Parents will need to set boundaries, but also be understanding and willing to listen. Jamia responds well to structure and environments where she has a voice. Parents will need to be patient and nurturing. It would be beneficial for Jamia (and family) if parents had an extended community of support. Jamia would thrive in a home as an only child where she's given the support she needs, can be herself, and can belong. (8416JS) St. Joseph County
