About the Siblings
In his famous song, “Kodachrome,” Paul Simon sang that everything looks worse in black and white. But Paytin likely wouldn’t agree with that lyric. She sees beauty in black and white because zebras are her favorite animal and so much more. Paytin wishes she could travel to Africa to see zebras in the wild. She says she’d like to have a pet zebra, and she dreams of building Lego zebras. Although she loves those black and white stripes, Paytin has another favorite color, which is green. Her favorite food is steak, and her favorite subject in school is art. She loves participating in volleyball, and playing it is one of her favorite after-school activities. Paytin also enjoys participating in cheerleading. On the weekends, Paytin likes reading, crocheting and talking on the phone. She enjoys spending time friends while watching movies. Paytin says her favorite holiday is Easter and that she enjoys celebrating it by coloring eggs and going on scavenger hunts. If you ask her what she’s most proud of, Paytin says her art, and she hopes for a family who enjoys doing arts and crafts together.
ATTENTION FAMILIES!!!! Take careful note of what one of his close adults says about Carter: “I firmly believe that any family who welcomes Carter into their home will be blessed to have him in their care. He is a very kind, caring and helpful child. For example, one of his care providers used to struggle to clear snow in the mornings, so Carter would get up with them every morning and help.” Although we’ve used this line before, we’re using it again because it especially applies to Carter; he puts the “aw” in awesome. He’s good at entertaining himself as well as interacting with others. Carter loves being outdoors and enjoys running and playing sports such as basketball and hockey. “Carter loves anything that has to do with outdoor motor vehicles such as four-wheelers, dirt bikes and snowmobiles,” says one of his close adults. “Whenever any of these things are mentioned, Carter absolutely lights up from head to toe.” In the winter, he enjoys going ice skating, and when the weather turns bad, he enjoys indoor activities such as playing video games and helping around the house by fixing things. This active young man wishes to become a police officer, to be Santa and to visit Florida “because it is warm and I can go swimming every day.” As a matter of fact, he wishes for a family who shares his desire to travel to Florida. Carter also hopes his new family has “lots of animals,” especially huskies or other big dogs, which are his favorite animals.
Charles, who goes by Charlie, isn’t the kind of kid who stands along the sidelines. “He is always busy,” says one of his close adults. Charlie doesn’t even sit down for his favorite meal, which he calls “walking tacos” and which can be eaten on the go from a bag of corn chips. When he’s asked about the favorite part of his school day, Charlie says recess, and after school, he likes playing tag with his friends. He also loves diving right into one of his favorite activities. “Charlie goes to swimming lessons which he enjoys,” says one of his close adults. Charlies loves playing outside on the weekends, but he does slow down to enjoy indoor pursuits such as playing with Legos, trucks, rockets and dinosaurs. “He is very good at imaginative play and can sometimes get lost in his own world of make-believe,” says one of Charlie’s close adults. He likes watching “Moana,” “Paw Patrol” and the Toy Story movies. In fact, his favorite toy is Buzz Lightyear. Charlie’s favorite color is blue, his favorite animals are cats and his favorite holiday is Christmas, which he likes celebrating with new toys and good food. If he could travel anywhere, Charlie would go to a beach and bask in the warmth of the sun. Charlie wants a family who enjoys being outside and active as much as he does, and if they can make walking tacos, so much the better.
“Paytin is very good at communicating,” says one of the adults who cares about her most. “She is quiet, reserved, very sweet and nurturing. Paytin would describe herself as a good listener.” That trait should serve her well in the future because Paytin hopes to become a lawyer.
“Carter is one of the most kind and loving children I have spent time with in a very long time,” says one of his close adults. “Every time I see him, Carter asks about others and how they are doing. By just entering a room, Carter can lighten the mood and make everyone’s day a little bit brighter. He is incredibly inquisitive, resilient, caring and outgoing. Carter loves to make new friends and is always willing to share his things with others. For example, when I would visit him, Carter would offer to share something with me every time. If he was eating cookies, he would always offer me one. If he was playing with toys, he would always ask if I wanted to join him. If he was playing a video game, he would always ask if I wanted to try to play it (and encourage me when I did so poorly).”
According to one of his close adults, “Charlie is an outgoing kid with an inquisitive disposition. He does very well with routine but also enjoys being silly and spontaneous. Still, knowing expectations and what is planned out for the day help Charlie.”
A forever family must be open to adopting Paytin, Carter and Charlie together. They need a parent or parents who will make sure they get the support services they need to thrive. They can be placed in a home with or without other children as long as they receive the attention and guidance they require. Paytin, Carter and Charlie prefer a forever family who has pets. Their new family needs to be open to letting them maintain their other sibling relationship.
