16 year-old Michael is a football player in the making. Michael is attending football camp, currently, in the hopes of playing football for his school in the fall. Having the opportunity to play a sport is a high priority for Michael and also a great motivator. Although Michael is tall and built like a football player, he is typically soft-spoken, shy, and withdrawn. Despite his usual demeanor, he is doing well with his peers and coaches, on the field. Michael is intelligent and with guidance has the ability to be a good student. Michael also enjoys playing video games and is great with animals. Michael can be a loner, but does express that he wants to be adopted and have a family. Michael has been in foster care many years and needs a patient, understanding family that will help him outwardly express all of the gifts he has bottled up inside.
Michael does best when he feels some control over his environment and feels involved in decisions about his life. Michael needs encouragement to exercise, although he does enjoy sports, and to watch what he eats. Michael also needs help developing social skills and expressing his feelings. When frustrated, he can displays temper tantrums and act like a younger child. He is learning new ways to manage his frustrations and becoming more capable of expressing his emotions in a healthy way. Michael has experienced many disappointments in his life and is slow to trust adults and peers. With the proper support, love, and trust; Michael can thrive and grow into the young man he is meant to be.
