About the AdoptUsKids web site

AdoptUsKids.org is a tool for connecting foster and adoptive families with waiting children throughout the United States. Registration and participation on the site is FREE for homestudied families and foster adoption professionals.

Families who do not have a homestudy are referred to the RRT registration so an adoption specialist in their state can help guide them through the adoption process.

During registration, homestudied families provide a profile and adoption preferences and write a narrative about their family. The family’s information is confidential and can only be viewed by registered professionals.

Member families gain access to special features such as personalized search, note keeping, list building, and the ability to notify a case manager about a specific child or sibling group. Photos and profiles of the children are supplied by the child’s case manager or agency.

Foster-adoption professionals register with AdoptUsKids.org to list the child cases they manage for viewing by potential adoptive families from across the country. These caseworkers also search for families to match a child they are trying to place. Professionals can view contact information for registered families, as well as the family’s caseworker and adoption agency.

Case management is simplified and streamlined using electronic inquiries from families about specific children. Workers respond to families using a preset response or a personalize note to the family.

If a case worker leaves an organization, their assigned cases can be transferred to another staff member within the agency. Inquiries and activity history transfer with the child’s case information.

The administrator for a professional organization can monitor activity reports for all child cases and professional members assigned to their organization.
