Bright and capable, school has become a much more positive experience for him. However, he can also get overwhelmed by too much stimulation and too little structure so a small academic program with a predictable structure would be best in helping Qavy meet his academic goals. Learning about dinosaurs, playing electronic games and playing outdoors are favorite pastimes for Qavy and he also enjoys spending one-on-one time with significant person's in his life. Social and eager to learn Qavy would much rather spend time playing board games and talking than watching television.
Karvy is and exceptional artist who has been enthused to be able to learn Japanese drawing techniques from his teacher. Like his brother, Karvy enjoys his relationships with the primary adults in his life and enjoys learning from their experiences. They also exhibited behaviors consistent of children who were experiencing trauma. In order to maximize the supports both children needed and aid them in moving forward, they were placed separately. Since, both Qavy and Karvy have made significant emotional and behavioral gains. They have also developed insight into the issues that precipitated their move allowing them to developed coping strategies to deal with their fears and impulsive reactions. Now when Karvy is feeling overwhelmed he will take a time out to read or draw while Qavy will seek the counsel of a caring adult. Qavy and Karvy's care providers feel that these brother are ready to be reunited and placed with their adoptive family.
