I’m Ashley Moore and I am 14 years old. I am finally out of the foster system. People said that long-term foster care was best for me. Guess what? They were wrong! I am truly blessed that I have a family who loves and cares about me.

My life was great until my grandparents died. I went with my mom next. With my mom, my life was horrible. I wished I were dead instead of being the one alive. I went to foster care when I was 9 1/2 years old. I was in foster care for four years. I was finally adopted on May 15, 2006.

I met the Moores when I was 12 years old. I was really mad the day I met them. I thought they weren’t the parents for me, but deep down inside I was really happy. I knew that this was my family. I was so happy.

I have lived with the Moores for almost 2 years now. My life is great all because of one person – God! If I had given up on my faith, I think I would not appreciate my family as much as I do now.
