- Patience
- Advance notice, when possible
- Awareness of any crisis, remember that not everything is a crisis
- Work with the plan, not against it
- Openness to feedback
- Willingness to sincerely work with the birthparents
- Remember that I am busy too
What Foster Parents Need From Caseworkers:
- Timely return of calls
- Paperwork completed and submitted
- Willingness to listen and respond
- Consistent interaction
- Resource guidance, when problems arise
- Emotional support
- Respect as part of the team
- Remember that we take care of the child 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we do know the child and his/her behaviors well
