Who we are

AdoptUSKids is a project of the US Children’s Bureau that provides tools and technical assistance to help child welfare systems connect children in foster care with families

AdoptUSKids is a project of the Children’s Bureau, operated through a cooperative agreement between the Bureau and the Adoption Exchange Association.

Our mission is to:

  • Raise public awareness about the need for foster and adoptive families for children in the public child welfare system
  • Assist US states, territories, and tribes to recruit, engage, develop and support foster and adoptive families

Online and over the phone, we provide information and resources to families exploring foster care and adoption. Families who register on our site can search our national photolisting of more than 5,000 children and youth in foster care who are available for adoption and make inquiries directly to the children’s caseworkers. They also connect with a vibrant community through our Facebook page and Twitter channels.

Professionals use our site to search for families for children and access resources that help them manage their caseloads and recruit and support families.

Through a partnership with the Ad Council, we produce the “You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent” campaign to raise awareness of the need for families for children in foster care.
